Question on starting an LLC... No huge investment

    Quick question for everyone.

My wife and I do run, and have run, a website and podcast for the last half a year or so revolving around video games. Even through our bankruptcy, it stayed up and maintained because of the hosting company we use - we paid once at the beginning of the year, and it was dirt cheap. (we'll just say, less then a meal at mcdonalds for a family of 4). The service is fantastic though, and we started doing Podcasts and...

well we were approached by someone in the tech community about advertising, and expanding our coverage. We are thinking about it, but we don't want to do anything to risk our discharged (as of Today!) case.

    The specifics:
    - The business is specifically information oriented, so no mass investment is required. Really all we need is a PS3 to do reviews of those games as part of this expanded coverage. All games would be provided for by the manufacturers, very little capital is needed.

    - In order to take advantage of press-privilege (invites into Beta's, interviews with developers, passes to conventions such as Gencon, E3, and SDCC) we need need a tax ID number for our website. Further research and a free talk with a lawyer (part of the SBA office's service) we were guided to an LLC as our best option.

    - Income wise we are looking at making a personal profit of about 2,000 per year. This is hardware upgrades, bandwidth costs, and travel expenses. So it isn't much money.

    - Finally, to start the business officially we are looking at using $400 from an upcoming bonus check. yes, that is all we need to start it, and get the paperwork filed.

We aren't interested in loans, we aren't looking at anything drastic within the next 48 months. We are just basically looking at earning some side-cash (but not much!) while getting to go to conventions and such, and meet our fans.

Could this create a retroactive pull of our discharge?

    No!

The date you filed is the picture of your finances in question. The point if BK legally is to allow you to move on. Don't worry about it, it's over.

    Good luck.
